Inspired by the book Propaganda Blitz by the award-winning media analysts Media Lens. The book illustrates how media manufacture crises to bring about political action that is in their interests. This is usually done in a crescendo of clamorous coverage - a propaganda blitz. The lyrics reflect the way the media can act like an abusive lover - which is my view alone and not that of Media Lens - flattering the object of their desire by pandering to their prejudices, and coming down hard if they ever seem to be doubting them or looking elsewhere. The "hit you with a propaganda blitz" lyric is spoken by my nine-year-old son, pitched down and heavily effected.
