I'm Watching You (featuring Lucky Luke)

about

Inspired by the way newspapers now constantly monitor what their readers are clicking on, in real time, thus ensuring that they are usually served views that do not offend them, so they keep coming back. Reminiscent of the Police song "Every Breath You Take". As I was finishing this album, rapper Lucky Luke sent me a demo of his latest album, "Third Time Lucky", to listen to. It was really strong. Lucky Luke is a unique Aboriginal rapper from the Australian outback mining town of Mt Isa. He has managed to find mainstream success despite being an outspoken advocate for his people. When my album was finished I asked if he would listen to my album to check the mix. Instead he also laid down a verse that brings a whole new dimension to the track, showing that not all things can be measured by analytics. Even though someone is clicking on something, it doesn't mean they love it. I get goosebumps when I listen to music only rarely and only fleetingly, even though I listen to music all the time. But when I heard Lucky Luke's verse over this track, I came out in goosebumps for about two minutes. Here's an interview I did with Lucky Luke:

lyrics

I'm watching you
What you click
What you love
Yeah

(Lucky Luke:)
They watching what we click on
Aye
Heaven forbid that we click wrong
Thumbs down say what we wanna say
Like a moth to the flame anyway
In real time check it when they switch up
Back by popular demand when they switch up
We all have our different point of views
But it’s not the popular views
So it’s not the news
Can’t hear my voice
Through the crashing waves
Built the sand castle to watch it fade
Never been the one for the clickbait
It’s the chartbeat that’s building up my heart rate
Never asked me to watch my keystrokes
Never asked me to watch my mouse though
See the little arrow on your screen
That’s my middle finger cursing everything
