Just Ignore Them

about

Inspired by the work of award-winning media analysts Media Lens, whose challenges to journalists used to elicit responses. Journalists have since learnt it's safer, and no doubt less time-consuming, to ignore them. The quotes are taken from Media Lens tweets and an interview they did:
Why has @BBCNews betrayed its own rules of impartiality?

Perhaps the @BBCNews Foreign Editor might like to respond, please?

Corporate journalists know that their propaganda promoting perpetual war and corporate control of politics cannot withstand rational challenge; they have learned that they lose less credibility by ignoring us, for example, than by engaging.

The phone notification sound half way through the track is an attempt to put the listener in the journalists' shoes: experiencing the cognitive dissonance of hearing a notification, but ignoring it.
Here's an interview I did with Media Lens:

lyrics

Why has BBC News betrayed its own rules of impartiality?
Perhaps the BBC News Foreign Editor might like to respond, please?
Just ignore, ignore them
Just ignore, ignore them
We don't answer to you
Just ignore, ignore them
Just ignore, ignore them
We don't answer to you
Corporate journalists know that their propaganda promoting perpetual war and corporate control of politics cannot withstand rational challenge; they have learned that they lose less credibility by ignoring us
